About a week ago a girlfriend of mine called and asked me to make her son's birthday cake. I said sure no problem! Well I had no idea what I was getting myself into but after it was all said and done I had the best time. This was the first time I had baked in a long while and boy o boy did it feel good to be back in the kitchen. With a little help from a fellow caker and my friend Natalie, Vader was a hit!
Hello!
ReplyDeleteThis is the girlfriend who commissioned Miss Alexis to make a cake for my son's 6th birthday party.
Our theme was Star Wars (duh!) and when the cake was delivered Sunday morning I fell in love with the Dark Side! Darth hid in our stackable drier for what seemed like an eternity. Every time I’d pass by the laundry pantry a secret smile would cross my face.
Finally, the time arrived to introduce Vader to the party. We entered the dining room singing his theme (bom bom bom bom-bom-bom bom-bom-bom) followed by “Happy Birthday.” If my son didn’t pee in his pants, his little sister was on the verge of what she calls a “leetle axthident.” After half an hour of admiration, I cut into the cake to the tune of "Don't cut him! Don't cut him!" I felt like I was desecrating a piece of art. OMG . . . this bad boy tasted fine! Moist dark chocolate cake with mint filling. Just what you would think Darth Vader would taste like!
PS: The cake was not only non-dairy (Parve), but Kosher as well!
PPS: Is it better to look good or taste good? I wish we could ask Fernando Lamas!
